The Only Prescribed “Heart Softener” is: The Words of Christ!

The words of Christ is the only way to soften the hearts of men. When the ancient prophets saw the deterioration of their time, they resorted to the words of Christ as the only means to provide salvation for their people. Time and time again, when the Lord wants to save a people, he sends them prophets to preach the words of Christ. Alma the older knew that salvation was not economic or capitalistic, so he revolted against King Noah and went about secretly preaching the words of Christ. Alma the younger recognized that salvation could never come through a political triumph, so he left his position as chief-judge to preach the words of Christ. It is the words of Christ that softens the hearts of men, and eventually leads them to escape bondage, and ascend into the heavens.

If studying the words of Christ is the only means to soften the hearts of men, the saints of our day are “hard-hearted.” Historically, our dispensation has been under the condemnation for failure to study the words of Christ since Sept 1832 (182 years ago). That condemnation was reiterated in 1989. That means that all of our traditions, organizations, definitions, understandings, and advancements since 1832 have come through the filter of our condemnation- for resting the new covenant, even the Book of Mormon and the other commandments which were given us (D&C 84:55-56). We have forfeited much. Yet, we foolishly think that we have enough, …so we continue to rest the words of Christ.

Alma taught that those who will not harden their heart, the same is given” the greater portion of the word, until “it is given” unto him to know the mysteries of God until he know them in full (Alma 12:10). When we read the words of Christ to know how to do all things His way, then He will tell you all things what you should do, …and that will produce an escape from the bondage, slavery and captivity of the world. God’s solutions are “given,” …and not through the ways of the world. God’s ways are not our ways. God wants to give to us liberally. He’s offering to give us solutions to our situation.

But, …we still foolishly pray that God’s help comes in the likeness of the world (capitalism). When we want God to give us solutions in the likeness of the world, He is not pleased:

D&C 1:16

“16.They seek not the Lord to establish His righteousness, but every man walketh in his own way, and after the image of his own god, whose image is in the likeness of the world [capitalism], and whose substance is that of an idol, which waxeth old and shall perish in Babylon, even Babylon the great, which shall fall.”

The scriptures teach that this condemnation will remain until the saints not only say, but do according to that which is written, and produce fruits meet for the Fathers Kingdom, otherwise there remaineth a scourge and judgment to be poured out upon the children of Zion (D&C 84:56).

We must produce a soft heart by feasting upon the words of Christ, so that God can teach us how to overcome the world. With a soft heart God can give you revelation, so that your ways can align with His ways. The words of Christ were never intended to house solutions within itself. It was intended to give you a personal relationship with Christ, who has all the solutions for you. He intends to give you customized solutions, through personal/individual revelation (through a personal relationship). His solutions not only lay hold upon treasures of the earth, but even greater treasures in the heavens. Thus you will obtain fruits meet for the Fathers Kingdom.

Failure to escape the condemnation will result in remaining a scourge and judgment poured out on Zion. In essence, you will get exactly what you asked for: more capitalism, more bondage, more slavery, and more captivity.

Conclusion: We are faced with a grown up choice to make. You must choose this day (and everyday) who you will serve. No man can serve two masters. So …put on your “Big-Boy-Pants” and make the decision to trust in God and lean not to your own understanding, …and then stick to that decision!

There is a cost to pay to be believing. Feast upon the words of Christ. Pay the price. That price is far less than the what the Lord is offering in exchange. Again, …feast-upon-the-words-of-Christ! Obtain a softened heart. Seek for revelations! God is not the limiting factor, it is the condition of your heart that limits your relationship. Draw near unto Him and He will draw near unto you. Lay hold upon the words of Christ, …and make them your words. The words of Christ will soften your heart so that you have room to receive the light and truth being offered!
