The Glory of God is Intelligence, or in other words light and truth. Intelligence is man’s ability to solve problems. The problem that intelligence solves is to endow man with eternal life.
The Solution: Intelligence is distributed by the sharing of “knowledge.” Knowledge has been overlooked, redefined, and repackaged as classes provided by an institution, qualifying the candidate as being certified, officially recognized, and credentialed. Most importantly, the credentials have nothing to do with the creation, the heavens, and God.
However, a close examination of the description Joseph Smith uses to describe knowledge clearly exposes the institutional darkness being marketed as “modern salvation,” compared to salvation by the Glory of God. Joseph Smith said:
“Knowledge saves a man; and in the world of spirits no man can be exalted but by knowledge.” (TPJS pg. 357)
Those considering their occupations, certifications, and degrees of education as obtaining “knowledge that exalts” has only exalted their pride and increased their darkness. This knowledge is not what we seek out in college or universities, including “The BYU.” It is knowledge of the things of the heavens.
“Add to your faith knowledge, etc. The principle of knowledge is the principle of salvation. This principle can be comprehended by the faithful and diligent; and everyone that does not obtain knowledge sufficient to be saved will be condemned. The principle of salvation is given us through the knowledge of Jesus Christ.” (TPJS pg. 297)
This knowledge that we acquire must be the kind that is sufficient to save. Those who fail to acquire such saving knowledge will be condemned. This saving knowledge comes no other way, but through the knowledge of Jesus Christ (whatever that means to those who disassociate the need to see Christ in the flesh to be redeemed).
“In knowledge there is power. God has more power than all other beings, because he has greater knowledge; and hence he knows how to subject all other beings to Him. He has power over all.” (TPJS pg. 288)
It sounds like God’s power is associated with His knowledge, and that those who acquire more knowledge can have more power. And when people have more power, because they have more knowledge, they too have all of creation subject unto them, to be commanded by their will, for they would do nothing contrary to the will of God. And God knows this because God knows them, and is known by them.
Those who distribute intelligence by sharing knowledge, seek the salvation of men by reflecting the light of God that they possess, in intelligence. The problem we find ourselves in here, is that we are veiled on the earth, in a fallen state, seeking a way to escape the darkened condition we live in (within the veil). Those with intelligence have the ability to offer other men solutions to be redeemed. To be endowed means to be clothed. But to be endowed with exaltation means to be clothed in light, or to be filled with light. That is the mission of all intelligent beings, to distribute knowledge of God, or to distribute light and truth.
Conclusion: It is preposterous to think that we can hasten our ignorance, because we have asked a question about the mysteries of God, and that once the answer is given, we will comply and obey. Those seeking knowledge ask according to the depth of their seeking.
If they ask for shallow answers, it is because they are seeking shallow depths. And they will receive a shallow response. Those who ask for deep answers, but seek shallow depths cannot bear the answer, therefore they continue to receive a shallow response. However, those who ask deeply, and seek deeply, they will be prepared to receive a deep response from God. These labor with Christ in the vineyard.
Knowledge is what saves. Ask deep and seek deep, by feasting upon the words of Christ. Labor over the words of Christ. Make room for the solution of light being prepared for you, based upon your asking and seeking, by tilling your heart free of stones and thorns, leaving only good soil that will receive the seed (words of Christ). If this work is not hastened, line upon line you will be given intelligence.
“19. And if a person gains more knowledge and intelligence in this life through his diligence and obedience than another, he will have so much the advantage in the world to come.”
