Organize Ourselves (800 words Medium)

In a recent conversation of “Who you gonna vote for?” I responded, “None of them.” I was reprimanded that it is my civic and spiritual duty to participate in the goings on of the political battles being fought in their campaigns. My response to anyone with this opinion is that I recognize that the nation is prophesied in the scriptures to inevitably fall, so I am working on the words of Christ to prepare a people (my family), to qualify for the only safety found when it all goes down, Zion. Here are a few scriptures to consider:

D&C 44:3-6

“3. And it shall come to pass that they shall go forth into the regions round about, and preach repentance unto the people.

4. And many shall be converted, insomuch that ye shall obtain power to organize yourselves according to the laws of man;

5. That your enemies may not have power over you; that you may be preserved in all things; that you may be enabled to keep my laws; that every bond may be broken wherewith the enemy seeketh to destroy my people.

6. Behold, I say unto you, that ye must visit the poor and the needy and administer to their relief, that they may be kept until all things may be done according to my law which ye have received. Amen.

If you profess the scriptures to be the word of God, then where is this place where we organize ourselves, and our enemies have no power over us, and our bonds are broken? If it doesn’t exist than either they are not true, or we do not believe them and haven’t done it, and we must repent and do that.

D&C 78:11

11. Wherefore, a commandment I give unto you, to prepare and organize yourselves by a bond or everlasting covenant that cannot be broken.”

D&C 88:74

“74. And I give unto you, who are the first laborers in this last kingdom, a commandment that you assemble yourselves together, and organize yourselves, and prepare yourselves, and sanctify yourselves; yea, purify your hearts, and cleanse your hands and your feet before me, that I may make you clean;

There is a work to do on our part to assemble ourselves, prepare ourselves, sanctify ourselves, so that God can make us clean. We are not the cleansers, but we must prepare to be cleansed by the savior through this preparatory work, in the doctrines of Christ. We cannot rely on someone else to prepare us. That is our kuliana.

D&C 88:119

119. Organize yourselves; prepare every needful thing; and establish a house, even a house of prayer, a house of fasting, a house of faith, a house of learning, a house of glory, a house of order, a house of God;”

D&C 104:11

“11. It is wisdom in me; therefore, a commandment I give unto you, that ye shall organize yourselves and appoint every man his stewardship;”

So, in answer to the ever so common question, “Who you gonna vote for?” I will vote for you, my family.

Conclusion: Our current project is the Lord’s hand working on our behalf, inviting us to organize ourselves. This is nothing short of a sanctifying work. If we are to perform this labor, it ought to be done according as the scriptures outline for us to build this house. Then, it must be built according the Lord’s blueprints. It must progress with being a house of prayer at the foundation, to a house of fasting, further to a house of faith, then a house of learning, to a house of glory, to a house of order, so we can become a house of God.

There are souls who await this building here on earth, who aren’t part of a family like ours, but want to be. There are also souls beyond the veil, requesting that we get it done. Last night I had a dream, where uncle Clayton Ah Quin was seeking help. This was surprising to me, as I didn’t have a very close relationship with him when he was alive. I have had other experiences similar to this, but they must wait until we are organized, prepared, and sanctified as a family of God, before any work can be done with others.

The sanctification happens as we become more and more holy, through the knowledge of the words of Christ. In the allegory of the olive tree, it is the graft getting it’s moisture from the roots. In the parable of the ten virgins, it is the oil in the lamp. Oil is symbolic for light and truth. In the story of Nephi and Alma, the words of Christ is compass, the Liahona. That is the work that we must do.

We are not afraid of hard work. This is just another form of work that we must engage in.
