When the Lord restored the doctrine of Elias to the Nephites, he re-established baptism. Baptism is an indication that you recognize and receive the voice of the Lord. As baptism is the gate, it leads to the doctrine of election, and becoming a savior on Mount Zion. Without entering the gate, …the path and the way are unattainable.
When the Lord restored the doctrine of Elias among the Nephites, he re-established baptism, to eliminate disputations. He mentioned baptism four times; only one was positive, and the other three negative (3 Nephi 11). It’s not that the Lord is more negative than positive, it’s that WE are more motivated by consequences than rewards. This seems to be the condition of the natural man, especially in the case of disputations. Rather than disputing, I will state what has been given in the scriptures and let you wrestle with it.
It was a baptism by one who was sent, that qualified any to receive Christ in His mortal ministry. Those who were not baptized were antagonists to Christ’s work. They sought to condemn Him. And they finally crucified Him. God’s house is a house of order, or in other words patterns. His patterns are established from the foundation of the earth. It was true when Alma was at the waters of Mormon. It was true when Joseph Smith was baptized. And it is still true today. In our world of many religions, we have dug our heels in, trying to convince others that the LDS baptism is valid, while all others are invalid. The method we recommend investigators use is appropriate still:
“4. And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost.
5. And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things.”
Baptism, being foundational, leads to being receptive to greater orders. Thus, baptism was always considered “the gate.” It’s obvious that choosing the wrong gate cannot produce what is promised. However, in every dispensation, Christ has offered baptism as an expression of faith, both at the beginning, throughout, and at the end of a dispensation. Baptism at the end of a dispensation required all individuals to suffer being cast out, mocked, ridiculed, and ostracized. That sacrifice was always worth the reward.
Baptism is an indication that you recognize and receive the voice of the Lord. Only those who are able to hear the voice of the Lord will respond to baptism, and they are few. The ultimate value of investing the time to study of the words of Christ, is your ability to …recognize the voice of the savior, when he gathers His sheep. When the Lord sets His hand to gather His people into Zion, baptism is the indicator that you know His word, have heard His voice, and are His sheep. It is referred to as “the gate,” that leads to the doctrine of election (Elijah), producing the Holy Ghost (the baptism of fire).
2 Nephi 31:17
“17. Wherefore, do the things which I have told you I have seen that your Lord and your Redeemer should do; for, for this cause have they been shown unto me, that ye might know the gate by which ye should enter. For the gate by which ye should enter is repentance and baptism by water; and then cometh a remission of your sins by fire and by the Holy Ghost.
Baptism is the gate, …that “ought” to lead you through the path, …which should then terminate in the presence of Christ (the way). However, the LDS church has conflated (or clumped into one group) all three portions, calling them all BAPTISM. In their ignorance they teach that baptism is “the gate, the path, AND the way.” When it is really referring to Elias (the gate)/ Elijah (the path)/ and Messiah (the way). If you’re convinced that the LDS baptism is the only true baptism, and that they have an acceptable temple, then why is the presence of Christ in the flesh, for all His Saints, such an offense TO THEM? That is the covenant made by Christ, that if ye entered in by the way ye should receive. They are wrong concerning this doctrine, and will not repent to get it right because repentance threatens their power and control. But you don’t have to get it wrong too. Consider what Nephi teaches, and see if you can discern each of the three portions, leading to salvation in the presence of Christ.
2 Nephi 31:19-21
“19. And now, my beloved brethren, after ye have gotten into this strait and narrow path, I would ask if all is done? Behold, I say unto you, Nay; for ye have not come thus far save it were by the word of Christ with unshaken faith in him, relying wholly upon the merits of him who is mighty to save. [The words of Christ produced unshaken faith in Christ, the only one who is mighty to save, and has atoned. “In Christ” is the only place anyone ought to place their faith; not a prophet, not a stake president, not a bishop, or any officer of the church.]
20. Wherefore, ye must press forward with a steadfastness in Christ, having a perfect brightness of hope, and a love of God and of all men. Wherefore, if ye shall press forward, feasting upon the word of Christ, and endure to the end, behold, thus saith the Father: Ye shall have eternal life.
21. And now, behold, my beloved brethren, this is the way; [this is subtle because the verse separates the connection between eternal life and “the way,” but don’t miss it, it is the same. And Christ’s presence is: entering in by the way!] and there is none other way nor name given under heaven whereby man can be saved in the kingdom of God. And now, behold, this is the doctrine of Christ, and ‘the only and true doctrine’ of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, which is one God, without end. Amen.”
Without entering the gate through the proper baptism, …the path and the way are unattainable. It is required of each person to judge the matter for themselves. It doesn’t matter who you claim to follow or believe. Some of you have incorrectly thought that I want you to believe and follow me, or take my word for it. When the truth is, all you must do is HEAR HIS VOICE! The only message I offer is to familiarize yourselves with the words of Christ, so that you might hear His voice. If you would be familiar with scripture, you will hear the voice of truth in my words, which is His voice to you, and you would act on your faith by being baptized.
Conclusion: It is not my or any man’s responsibility to “get you baptized.” I am only required to speak the truth, by using the words of Christ. If you can hear His voice in my words, it is not credit to me. It’s credit to you, because you are His elect. And that must be proven through your actions.
If you prefer to give your trust to someone else, who is not only less familiar to you than I, and knows little of the words of Christ, who dismisses the necessity to know the Lord personally, in exchange for filling your ward/stake callings, that is surely your prerogative. Your leaders require your obedience to man, and offer little knowledge that saves. Owning a temple is not the same as understanding what is being conveyed within it. You have to attend often, pay attention, and receive revelation, to obtain it’s contents. Likewise, owning scriptures is not the same as understanding them. You must study them deeply, and receive revelation from the oracles of heaven to put them to proper use, as a Liahona, to guide you to a far greater land of promise (Alma 37:45). We should never let our ignorance make our decisions just because we fear the sacrifice it will require of us- being cast-out.
I have attended the temple so often that it cannot be taken from me, as I have memorized it’s contents. I have studied and continue to study the words of Christ, so that ignorance will not make my choice, and so that I am able to discern the voice of the Lord. I suggest that you too should follow the counsel given in the temple, to seek further light and knowledge from messengers from our Father. That requires an expectation for angels. But even angelic messengers require preparation in the words of Christ.
2 Nephi 32:3
“3. Angels speak by the power of the Holy Ghost; wherefore, they speak the words of Christ. Wherefore, I said unto you, feast upon the words of Christ; for behold, the words of Christ will tell you all things what ye should do.”
I have sought to present the words of Christ to you for over ten years now. It is now going on five years that I have been writing this blog, presenting the words of Christ. Many times I have found good reception, when discussing the words of Christ. But often times, I have had rejection. Your preparation is prerequisite to correctly discerning the voice of the Lord, and cannot be avoided, skipped, or delegated. So do the damn work!
An angel is a Greek word, meaning “messenger.” I deliver this message as one who was sent to YOU my family, and to no one else. I have spoken by the power of the Holy Ghost, always using the words of Christ. I am now resorting to boldness, as our time is shortening. While you are not required to respond to me, you ARE required to respond to Christ. Since the death of Joseph and Hyrum, the heavens are once again open for business. Christ’s voice has returned to gather His sheep one more time. The gathering is NOW. If you are His sheep, then hearken (hear and know) the message from a servant. Your blood will be on your own garments, NOT mine. You have sufficient knowledge to know better, and cannot be considered innocent in your ignorance. I offer again an invitation to be baptized.
Being baptized doesn’t require that you resign your position as a Mormon. But it does indicate that you hear the voice of the Lord. It doesn’t necessitate that you stop attending church, going to the temple, or filling your calling. I did all of that up until the day I was kicked out for following the voice of the Lord. No one need fight, or oppose, or contend with anyone else. Exercise your faith by recognizing the voice of the Lord.
I beg and petition you to seek the Lord’s grace, that your eyes might be opened, so that you might be prepared to receive baptism NOW. The dead, who remain on the earth envy your opportunity to repent and be baptized NOW. Doing so makes available your return into the presence of Christ, while in the flesh. The Lord left Adam and Eve in the garden and allowed them to choose, even to choose disobedience. You too are as they were, and will not be regulated by the Lord to make the right choice. He desires your return. He will not force. You must exercise your agency and choose which master you know and serve. KNOW YE THE LORD!
